From Struggle to Success: Weight Loss Journey with the 80-20 Lifestyle

Over the past four years, my weight has fluctuated significantly. Starting at 76kg, I reached a peak of 87kg due to stress eating caused by battling depression. Since then, my weight has remained between 87kg and 89kg, resulting in a BMI of 36.57, classified as severely obese.
However, starting in July 2023, weighing 88kg, I made a conscious decision to stop feeling sorry for myself and embarked on a journey to improve my body. Typically, I follow a pattern of strict healthy eating for three months, followed by a return to eating everything, which often leads to a significant increase in weight and body size.
This year, I adopted an 80-20 lifestyle, prioritizing 80% healthy foods and allowing 20% for indulgence. From July 2023 to January 2024, I successfully lost 12kg, bringing my weight down to 76kg, primarily through disciplined adherence to this lifestyle, with exceptions only during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
However, in late January to early February, during my birthday road trip with friends, I indulged in everything, albeit with some moderation. Upon returning, I gained 4kg, bringing my weight back to 79kg. Since then, I have maintained this weight by balancing healthy eating with occasional indulgences.
Now, I am committed to strict healthy eating for at least the next four months to further my weight loss journey and achieve a normal BMI range of 18.5 to 24.9. My ultimate goal is to reach 60kg.
